Last time…
The Drift screams around your ship in impossible colors and fractured light as alarms blare across the bridge. What began as a routine jump turned into chaos when the void itself answered back—space rippled, hull plating groaned, and from the swirling Drift emerged a colossal tardigrade, its many limbs phasing in and out of reality. |

Giant Space Tardigrade
Energy weapons tore across its rubbery hide. Gravity faltered. The creature is barring down on the ship, blocking your course as it lets out a soundless bellow that vibrated through bone and bulkhead alike.
Blaster fire flashes in the void. The Drift churns violently around you.
And that’s where we left off.
The creature is still close. Initiative resumes. |

*Ship Battle*
The Astral Express Triet
|
|
Giant Space Tardigrade Destroyed
|
|
There was no time to hesitate. Tovak was struggling in the Captains seat so Korsavox stepped into the captain’s chair, taking command as alarms echoed across the bridge.
Orders rang out with practiced clarity while the ship rolled to meet the threat. At the gun controls, Tovak locked himself in place, all four arms moving in steady rhythm as weapon fire tore into the creature’s shifting mass. Dwelly moved constantly between stations, rerouting power, analyzing readings, and keeping vital systems alive as the battle unfolded.
The Astral Express held the advantage, its superior firepower slowly wearing the creature down, but the tardigrade was not without teeth. A devastating strike slammed into the rear of the ship, hull plating screaming as a torpedo detonated far too close. Damage reports flared across the bridge, and moments later the creature unleashed something far worse—a thick, viscous mass that splattered against the shields and forced its way through in a grotesque, organic surge.

When the tardigrade finally died, its massive body tumbling back into the Drift, the bridge fell briefly silent. That silence did not last. Dwelly’s scans revealed the truth too late: the residue was alive. Parasitic. F |

Key Events Battle Log
| 1 - The party was ready this time. Weapons came up immediately, and the leeches were cut down quickly, but not before causing havoc. One destroyed the science console in a shower of sparks and ichor, while others triggered cascading malfunctions. Gravity failed without warning, sending crew and equipment drifting before slamming back online. Tovak barely faltered, anchoring himself effortlessly with four arms, while Dwelly and Korsavox hit the deck hard as emergency systems engaged and the bridge was bathed in the orange glow of backup power. |

Action:
With the leeches destroyed, the ship finally stabilized. Tovak bore injuries from the fighting as Dwelly and Tovak conducted full system scans, confirming serious rear-hull damage. Dangerous to repair while still in the Drift, but not severe enough to stop them from reaching Absalom Station. Tovak retreated to his cabin to recover while Dwelly worked tirelessly to restore the shattered science console, scavenging parts and coaxing the station back into functional—if fragile—operation with Korsavox’s help. |

Tovak was awakened and brought back to the bridge as Drode told his story again: a merchant ship, hired protection, an attack by a giant creature in the Drift, and total destruction. Only one survivor. The party listened closely, weighing his words and motives, and found no deception. The airlock opened, and Drode came aboard—along with an unforgettable stench. Korsavox welcomed him nonetheless, directing him to the farthest cabin so he could clean himself and recover. |
